Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Obstetrics and gynecology form the cornerstone of women's health, where timely and accurate diagnosis decisively influences maternal, fetal, and reproductive outcomes. Imaging modalities have evolved rapidly—from high-resolution ultrasound with 3D/4D reconstruction to MRI, CT, elastography, and AI-enhanced analysis—profoundly reshaping routine clinical practice. Modern ultrasound now assesses not only anatomical structures but also function, integrating Doppler techniques for vascular and hemodynamic evaluation and elastography for quantitative assessment of tissue stiffness and biomechanics. These advances enable earlier and safer detection of ectopic pregnancies, placental disorders, fetal compromise, adnexal masses, and endometrial pathology, while facilitating minimally invasive and fertility-preserving interventions.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue of Diagnostics, led by Professor Dr. Dan Navolan (materno-fetal medicine) as contact/Leading Guest Editor, together with Professor Dr. Dana Stoian (breast ultrasound), Professor Dr. Laurențiu Pirtea (operative gynecology ultrasound), Dr. Dan Dumitrașcu-Biriș, and Dr. Adrian Rațiu (materno-fetal medicine specialists). This Special Issue aims to showcase state-of-the-art imaging applications in obstetrics and gynecology, emphasizing innovative imaging protocols, functional ultrasound techniques, AI-driven tools, and multimodal approaches that inform therapeutic decision-making across the reproductive lifespan, in line with the scope of Diagnostics in advancing diagnostic methodologies and imaging innovations. Original research articles, reviews, and illustrative case reports are welcome.
We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
