Advances in Cardiovascular and Vascular Imaging
This special issue belongs to the section "Medical Imaging and Theranostics".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The landscape of cardiovascular medicine is being rapidly transformed by innovations in diagnostic imaging. As cardiovascular diseases remain a leading cause of global mortality, the quest for earlier detection, more precise quantification, and non-invasive characterization of vascular pathologies is more critical than ever.
This Special Issue aims to collate high-quality original research and comprehensive reviews that showcase the latest technological and clinical breakthroughs in the field. We seek to explore how "next-generation" imaging is moving beyond simple anatomy toward functional, molecular, and predictive assessments of the heart and blood vessels.
We invite submissions that are focused on, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Advanced MRI/CT Applications: 4D flow MRI, cardiac T1/T2 mapping, and photon-counting CT (PCCT).
- Artificial Intelligence and Radiomics: Machine learning algorithms for automated segmentation, plaque characterization, and predictive modeling.
- Molecular and Hybrid Imaging: PET/MR and PET/CT innovations in detecting vascular inflammation and myocardial metabolism.
- Vascular Hemodynamics: Novel insights into shear stress, arterial stiffness, and aneurysm progression.
- Interventional Imaging: The role of IVUS, OCT, and augmented reality (AR) in guiding percutaneous interventions.
- Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS): Expanding the reach of echocardiography and vascular screening in clinical practice.
Current clinical guidelines are increasingly reliant on advanced imaging for patient stratification. However, challenges remain in standardizing these techniques and integrating AI into daily workflows. This Special Issue aims to act as a dedicated forum for clinicians, physicists, and engineers to bridge the gap between benchtop innovation and bedside application, ensuring that the latest "Advances in Cardiovascular and Vascular Imaging" are accessible to the global scientific community.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Diagnostics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
