Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Amid the general trend of global green, low-carbon development and the increasingly urgent demand for environmental governance, there is a need for high-end manufacturing to be upgraded. Due to their unique interfacial infiltration characteristics, superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic surfaces have become a research hotspot in cross-material science, surface chemistry, engineering technology and other disciplines. Superwetting surfaces with different microstructural morphologies, surface energies and wettabilities have been designed and prepared. These surfaces have a wide range of applications in engineering and technology, including self-cleaning, drag reduction, anti-icing, anti-fogging, water collection, oil–water separation and microfluidic manipulation.

The aim of this Special Issue is to present and disseminate the latest research results related to the design and preparation of superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic surfaces, as well as their emerging applications. We look forward to academic contributions concerning the optimisation of the surface bionic design principle, the development of new green preparation processes, performance regulation and durability improvement, the exploration of emerging applications in many fields, and industrialisation technology breakthroughs. The aim is to promote the deep integration of basic research and practical application in this field and to help advance global green development and the upgrading of the high-end manufacturing industry. We welcome submissions of high-quality original research papers, reviews and technical reports from researchers in this field, demonstrating the development trends of superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic surfaces for design, fabrication, and emerging applications.
