Aging and Disease

Dear Colleagues,

Complex and intertwined implications of understanding inevitable aging and the conditions pertaining to it have been a focus of deep and unceasing investigation worldwide. The time dependent aging process results in and raises the probability of several chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, stroke, dementia and AD limiting the lifespan of an individual. The results of biomedical research have identified several predictive markers and molecular mechanisms pertaining to systemic aging and related diseases with considerable limitations. Studies scrutinizing and trying to understand multiple facets of aging and pathophysiology of its related diseases have merited the development of novel medical strategies aiming at extending human health span. Thus, in this exhilarating era for research on aging and related diseases, we are interested in assembling current knowledge from leading experts in a Special Issue addressing this topic. This Special Issue on “Aging and Disease” intends to explore and reveal the latest significant advances towards identifying unknown molecular mechanisms, pathological features and functional connections, novel therapeutic approaches for these diseases and others as seen from different perspectives.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
