2015 The journal is divided into five topical sections: Cell Motility and Adhesion, Cell Signaling and Regulated Cell Death, Cell Nuclei: Function, Transport and Receptors, Autophagy and Organelle Function.
2016 Cells starts the Travel Award project.
2017 Indexed by Science Citation Index Expanded - Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics).
The second Travel Award project.
2018 Cells receives its first Impact Factor of 4.829.
One new topical section on Stem Cells has been set up.
Cells commences the Young Investigator Award.

2020 Cells announced the first edition of the Outstanding Reviewer Awards and Academic Conference Grants Awards.
