Soil Pollution and Remediation in Sustainable Agriculture—2nd Edition
This special issue belongs to the section "Soil and Plant Nutrition".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Following the success of our first Special Issue of Agronomy on “Soil Pollution and Remediation in Sustainable Agriculture”, the Editorial Office is pleased to launch a second edition.
Soil pollution, the presence of a chemical product or substance outside its natural environment and/or in a concentration higher than normal, has adverse effects on any non-target organism, and there are currently numerous sources of soil pollution in agriculture, including pesticides (fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides, among others), industrial fertilizers, animal waste, industrial residues, etc. The main pollutant elements that are added to the soil as a result of the use of these products include heavy metals, such as arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chrome (Cr), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn), among others. When present in excessive amounts in the soil even heavy metals essential for plant growth, such as Cu and Zn, inhibit plant development, affect soil biota, and contaminate water sources. Thus, the use of (chemical, physical, biological, and other) remediation techniques for polluted soils is a strategy that is indispensible to the maintainance of soil productivity.
With this Special Issue we aim to exchange knowledge on various aspects of agricultural soil pollution and the use of remediation techniques to minimize the adverse effects of pollutants, including, in particular, heavy metals.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agronomy is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs).
