Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce a forthcoming Special Issue in the journal Actuators, entitled "Intelligent Actuation and Advanced Control for Robotics and Autonomous Systems." This Special Issue is dedicated to presenting cutting-edge research and comprehensive reviews on the integration of advanced actuator technologies with intelligent control paradigms. It aims to bridge the gap between theoretical innovation and practical application, fostering solutions for next-generation robotic and autonomous systems.
We invite the submission of high-quality original research articles and insightful review papers. The main topics of this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Smart materials and novel designs for actuators;
- Actuators for robotic and mechatronic systems;
- Intelligent control and motion control systems;
- Actuators for human–robot interaction and collaborative robotics;
- Fault diagnosis and reliable control of actuation systems;
- Actuators in autonomous systems and vehicles;
- Sensor–actuator integration and cyber–physical systems;
- AI and machine learning for actuator control and optimization;
- Actuators for industrial automation and smart manufacturing.
This Special Issue will also feature extended versions of selected high-quality papers presented at the 2025 International Conference on Advanced Robotics, Control and Artificial Intelligence (ARCAI 2025, https://www.icarcai.org/), to be held in Nadi, Fiji. We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Actuators is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
