Cover Story: A longitudinal study was conducted to clarify the relationship of oral health in infancy with that in adulthood among participants who were the subjects of the oral health promotion project (OHPP) since 1984 in Miyako Island, Okinawa, Japan. Dental caries, periodontal diseases, occlusion, and bite-force of 27 subjects at 4 and 13–15 years old were related to those in adulthood (around 35 years). Those who participated in the OHPP soon after birth showed significantly fewer DMFT compared with those who did not. This study suggested that fostering good oral health soon after birth is of great importance. View this paper.
