Cover Story: Immune checkpoint inhibition serves as a targeted therapeutic strategy for patients with advanced or metastatic gastric cancer (GC). It is being investigated in various combinations, with and without chemotherapy, across multiple therapeutic modalities in clinical trials. Compared with traditional therapies, immunotherapy has shown strong effectiveness with tolerable toxicity levels. In this review, we have outlined the recent advancements in immunotherapy for advanced GC, including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), cancer vaccines, VEGF-A inhibitors, and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, along with existing challenges associated with these therapeutic approaches. View this paper
