Latest Advances and Prospects of Renewable Energies and the Environment

Dear Colleagues,

Climate change has become a topic of significant concern in recent decades. Around 80% of global energy and 66% of electricity demand is supplied by fossil fuels, which are responsible for approximately 60% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Renewable technologies are considered clean sources of energy with much fewer negative environmental impacts compared to fossil fuels. The transition from fossil fuels to renewable energies has already begun in many nations, even in developing countries.

Renewable energy technologies provide an excellent opportunity for the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions for a slowdown of global warming and minimization of the carbon footprint on the environment. However, further extensive research in the field of renewable power generation, grid integration, and energy storage is required to develop next-generation renewable energy technologies suitable for widespread application and to ensure environmental sustainability.

The current Special Issue aims to present and distribute the “Latest Advances and Prospects of Renewable Energy Technologies and the Environment”, with a special emphasis on efficient and reliable conversion, modeling, application, technologies, transmission, storage, policy-making, future research, reviews, and use of renewable energy toward a sustainable environment. Prospective authors are invited to submit original research papers in the aforementioned fields.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
