Software and Control-Related Fields for Electric Vehicle
This special issue belongs to the section "Vehicle Control and Management".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The software and control layers of electric vehicles (EVs) increasingly determine vehicle efficiency, safety, reliability, interoperability and grid compatibility. As EV platforms become connected, autonomous, software-defined and grid-interactive, their performance depends on coordinated advances in embedded software, advanced control, power electronics, battery management, charging infrastructure and data-driven energy management. These topics are closely aligned with the scope of the World Electric Vehicle Journal, including electric vehicles, AI for EVs, autonomous and connected vehicles, cybersecurity, charging infrastructure, V2H/V2G, smart grid integration, battery management systems, propulsion systems, power electronics, modelling and simulation, energy management and advanced control.
This Special Issue aims to collect high-quality original research and review articles on software and control-related technologies for EV development, operation and integration. Contributions are welcome from control engineering, power electronics, power systems, transportation electrification, battery science, intelligent transportation systems, cyber-physical systems and applied artificial intelligence. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: model-based and data-driven EV control; embedded and real-time control software; battery state estimation, health prediction and management; motor-drive and propulsion control; vehicle energy management; thermal management; smart charging and charging-station control; V2G/V2H coordination; EV integration with smart grids and microgrids; fleet-level optimization; autonomous and connected EV control; digital twins; hardware-in-the-loop and processor-in-the-loop validation; cybersecure EV software; fault diagnosis, fault-tolerant control and reliability-oriented design.
Both theoretical and application-oriented studies are encouraged, especially those supported by simulation, experimental validation, field data or real-time implementation. Review papers that identify research gaps, standardization needs, industrial barriers and future directions are also welcome. This Special Issue seeks to connect software and control innovation with practical improvements in EV efficiency, safety, resilience, sustainability and large-scale deployability.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. World Electric Vehicle Journal is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
