Extraction, Bioactivity Evaluation and Valorization Processes of Bioactive Compounds from Plants

Dear Colleagues,

Plant-derived bioactive compounds have attracted growing interest due to their wide range of biological activities and applications in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and nutraceutical industries. Advances in extraction technologies, analytical techniques, and bioactivity evaluation have significantly improved the efficient recovery and characterization of these compounds. In parallel, sustainable extraction and valorization strategies aligned with circular bioeconomy principles are increasingly important for converting plant resources and by-products into high-value products.

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, focused on recent advances in the extraction, bioactivity evaluation, and valorization of bioactive compounds from plant sources, emphasizing innovative and sustainable approaches consistent with the journal’s scope. This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality original research articles and reviews that advance knowledge in this multidisciplinary field.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Conventional and emerging extraction techniques;
• Green and sustainable processes;
• Process optimization and scale-up;
• Chemical characterization of plant bioactives;
• In vitro and in vivo bioactivity evaluation;
• Structure–activity relationships;
• Valorization of plant materials and agro-industrial by-products;
• Applications within food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and biorefinery contexts.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
