Next-Generation Organic Electronics: Innovative Processes for Materials and Devices

Dear Colleagues,

Organic electronics is rapidly advancing toward a new generation of multifunctional, sustainable, and high-performance technologies that seamlessly integrate materials chemistry, device physics, and engineering innovation. Recent progress in fundamental understanding, together with the emergence of novel materials and synthetic strategies, has enabled the realization of prototypical devices exhibiting new functionalities and performance metrics that rival established inorganic counterparts. Beyond conventional applications, such as organic transistors, photovoltaics, and light-emitting diodes, new research directions are expanding into biointegrated sensing, neuromorphic computing, and transient or biodegradable electronics. These advances are underpinned by innovative processing techniques and design concepts. Meanwhile, a deep understanding of structure–property relationships, interfacial charge transport, and operational stability remains essential for practical implementation. This Special Issue highlights recent breakthroughs that redefine the synthesis, processing, and application of organic materials, paving the way for intelligent, flexible, and sustainable electronic systems of the future.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
