Advances in Mechanical Performance of Polymer Materials
This special issue belongs to the section "Polymer Analysis and Characterization".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Polymeric materials have become indispensable in our daily life due to their lightweight nature, ease of processing, versatility and broad range of applications. In recent years, polymers have evolved from conventional materials into high-performance engineering systems capable of meeting demanding requirements in electronic, biomedical, aerospace, automotive and energy-related applications. As these applications continue to expand, achieving superior mechanical performance remains one of the most important challenges in materials science. From biopolymers and polymer blends to fiber-reinforced composites and nanocomposites, understanding the mechanical behavior of these materials is essential for their successful implementation. Mechanical properties are closely related to processing types and conditions, reinforcement strategies, morphology and interfacial interactions and environmental exposure. Therefore, comprehensive investigations consisting of experimental characterization and modeling are required to understand the relationship between structure, processing and performance.
This Special Issue aims to provide a platform to publish recent studies on the mechanical performance of advanced polymer materials. Contributions addressing experimental characterization, structure–property relationships, rheological performance, durability and aging behavior, computational modeling and innovative material design are particularly welcome.
The topics of interest for this Special Issue include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Mechanical properties of polymer blends, fiber-reinforced polymeric composites and nanocomposites
- Performance of additive-manufactured polymer materials
- Relation between processing and mechanical properties
- Interfacial compatibility and mechanical performance of polymer systems
- Effect of surface treatment on mechanical properties
- Modeling and simulation of mechanical behavior
- Fatigue, impact and damage/failure mechanisms
- Influences of harsh environmental conditions on mechanical performances
- Thermomechanical characteristic

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
