Current Research, Trends, and Prospects in Laser-Assisted Additive Printing Technology

Dear Colleagues,

We are currently running a Special Issue of MDPI's journal Photonics. As Guest Editors, we cordially invite you to submit a manuscript for consideration and possible publication in this Special Issue, entitled "Current Research, Trends, and Prospects in Laser-Assisted Additive Printing Technology".

The aim of this Special Issue is to cover relevant experimental and theoretical aspects from new technologies in this field to their applications, via the following topics:

• Laser-assisted additive printing technologies;
• Bio-printing for tissue engineering, scaffolding, and surface structuring for bioapplications;
• Additive fabrication of biosensors, synthetic biostructures, implants, and biodevices;
• Additive microfabrication in microelectronics, optoelectronics, flexible electronics, and organic electronics;
• Additive fabrication in electrical engineering (including radiofrequency and microwave engineering, photovoltaic cells and batteries, electrochemistry, etc.);
• Micro-/nano-additive structuring via nanophotonics for metallic, ceramic, and glass materials;
• Theoretical aspects of laser-assisted additive printing technologies: modeling/simulation research.

Consequently, this Special Issue welcomes original research and review manuscripts on challenges and trends covering fundamental and experimental research on laser-assisted additive printing technologies and applications, with special emphasis for environmental protection technology, ecology and ecological applications, and ecological science, to address the current environmental problems.

The Special Issue is in cooperation with the "Laserlab-Europe Training Event" (further details are provided below). Scholars who contribute articles to this Special Issue following their participation in the event are eligible for a 20% reduction in the Article Processing Charge.

Laserlab-Europe Training Event

Laserlab-Europe organizes a training event on laser-induced printing for microscale additive fabrication at the Laser Plasma and Photonic Processes Laboratory (LP3 UMR 7341 CNRS AMU) on the Campus of Luminy, Marseille (France). The next event will be held on the 09/10/2024 and later on demand.

The lab experiments will be held on one of the LP3 platforms (LaMP, https://lp3.fr/les-plateformes/lamp/) focused on the development and industrial transfer of laser-based processes.

Attendance is limited to a maximum of four participants. A limited number of bursaries are available from Laserlab-Europe to cover the registration fee, travel, and accommodation costs.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Photonics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
