Adipokine Action in Obesity-Mediated Metabolic Comorbidities

Dear Colleagues,

Obesity is a global health burden associated with high healthcare costs. It is characterized by excessive body fat accumulation, which leads to physiological changes and an increased risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease. In obesity, adipose tissue is excessively present and acts as a source of hormonally active substances known as adipokines. Adipokines are a family of cytokines with complex actions that can become dysregulated in obesity.

The goal of this Special Issue, titled “Adipokine Action in Obesity-Mediated Metabolic Comorbidities”, is to provide recent insights into the role of adipokines in the development, progression, improvement, and prevention of obesity-related metabolic diseases, with a particular emphasis on how gender and/or age influence adipokine release.

The articles included in this Special Issue will present the scientific community with a compilation of recent findings on the impact of adipokines in metabolic diseases associated with obesity, emphasizing the roles of aging and gender differences in this context.

I would like to extend an invitation for you to contribute to this Special Issue. This compilation will serve as a valuable resource for both researchers and clinicians.
