Dear Colleagues,
Natural products are sources of diverse and biologically active molecules with applications in food chemistry, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, and health research. Attention has focused on chemical characterization and bioactivity evaluation of functional foods, bee products, medicinal plants, edible and non-edible plant materials, and natural matrices. These resources contain phenolic acids, flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, volatiles, organic acids, and enzyme-modulating molecules, many of which may contribute to antioxidant activity by scavenging free radicals, modulating oxidative stress, and protecting biological systems against oxidative damage.
This Special Issue welcomes original research articles, reviews, and methodological studies focusing on the isolation, identification, quantification, and biological evaluation of antioxidant and other bioactive compounds from natural products and functional foods. Emphasis will be placed on chromatographic analysis, metabolomics-based profiling, chemometric evaluation, and method development for complex matrices. Studies investigating antioxidant mechanisms, enzyme inhibition, molecular mechanisms of bioactivity, structure–activity relationships, molecular docking, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects, and integrated chemical–biological approaches are also welcome.
By combining analytical chemistry, natural products chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and bioactivity-oriented research, this Special Issue highlights advances in characterization, quality evaluation, and functional assessment of natural bioactive compounds. Contributions addressing antioxidant activity, oxidative stress-related bioactivity, bioactive fingerprints, and health-related applications are encouraged.
