Advances in Fish Health and Parasitology

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue in Microorganisms, titled “Advances in Fish Health and Parasitology”, brings together cutting-edge research on the health and well-being of fish in both wild and farmed environments. As aquaculture expands and ecosystems face mounting pressures, understanding and managing parasitic infections and other health challenges is more important than ever. This collection highlights integrative approaches that combine parasite biology, host immunity, microbial interactions, and innovative management strategies. Topics include parasite diversity and life cycles, molecular and microbiome-based diagnostics, mechanisms of host–pathogen interactions, diagnostic tools and health monitoring techniques for early disease detection, and sustainable prevention and control measures such as vaccines, probiotics, and biosecurity practices. By connecting fundamental research with practical applications, this Special Issue aims to advance knowledge, enhance fish welfare, and support resilient, sustainable aquaculture systems worldwide.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Microorganisms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
