AI and Big Data Analytics in Tourism E-Commerce: Intelligent Services and Innovation
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global tourism sector is undergoing an unprecedented digital transformation, with tourism e-commerce serving as a critical driver of service innovation and industrial upgrading. The rapid proliferation of online travel platforms, social media, and user-generated content has generated massive multimodal data resources, while also presenting prominent challenges: information overload in traveler decision-making, insufficient personalization of travel services, fragmented data value utilization, and the growing demand to balance intelligent automation with human-centric service experiences.
Artificial intelligence and big data analytics have emerged as transformative forces to address these industry and academic gaps. Advanced techniques including large language models, deep learning, intelligent recommendation systems, and predictive analytics enable researchers and practitioners to mine actionable insights from heterogeneous tourism data, optimize service processes, and deliver personalized, intelligent travel commerce solutions.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to AI and big data analytics in tourism e-commerce, with a core focus on intelligent services and innovation. We invite original research papers, review articles, and practical case studies that explore theoretical frameworks, methodological advances, empirical findings, and industry applications in this emerging interdisciplinary field.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Big-data-driven tourism service optimization and experience design;
- AI-powered personalized recommendation systems for travel e-commerce;
- Multimodal user-generated content analytics for tourism decision support;
- Human–AI interaction in intelligent tourism service platforms;
- Smart tourism e-commerce innovation and ecosystem development;
- Ethical issues and trust building in AI-enabled tourism commerce;
- Predictive analytics and demand forecasting in online tourism operations.
