Otitis Media and Other Ear Disorders: Diagnosis and Management
This special issue belongs to the section "Otolaryngology".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Otitis media (OM) and related ear diseases remain among the most prevalent conditions encountered in clinical practice, particularly in pediatric populations, yet significant challenges persist in timely diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and long-term management. Chronic otitis media, otitis media with effusion, acute otitis media, and cholesteatoma represent a spectrum of conditions that, if inadequately addressed, may lead to permanent hearing loss, speech and language delays, and reduced quality of life. Despite substantial advances in diagnostic technology, surgical techniques, and antimicrobial therapies, considerable variability exists in clinical practice across different healthcare settings and geographic regions.
This Special Issue aims to consolidate current evidence and emerging research on the diagnosis, medical and surgical management, and prognostic outcomes of otitis media and other ear diseases. We welcome original research articles and reviews that address novel diagnostic approaches, including advanced imaging and endoscopic techniques; innovations in surgical and non-surgical interventions; the role of microbiome and immunological factors; outcome assessment; and the application of emerging technologies such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence in ear disease management. By bringing together multidisciplinary perspectives from otolaryngologists, audiologists, pediatricians, and researchers worldwide, this Special Issue seeks to provide clinicians and scientists with an updated, comprehensive resource to improve patient care and outcomes in ear diseases.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
