Clinical Advances in Cardiac Imaging: CT, MRI, Nuclear, and Ultrasound Innovations
This special issue belongs to the section "Cardiology".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cardiovascular imaging has become a cornerstone of contemporary cardiovascular medicine, extending far beyond anatomic diagnosis to provide increasingly sophisticated information on myocardial structure, function, perfusion, metabolism, tissue composition, and disease activity. Rapid advances in cardiac magnetic resonance, computed tomography, echocardiography, and nuclear imaging are reshaping the evaluation of cardiovascular disease and enabling more accurate phenotyping, risk stratification, therapeutic selection, and procedural planning. At the same time, quantitative imaging, multimodality integration, artificial intelligence, and radiomics are creating new opportunities to translate complex imaging data into clinically meaningful decision tools.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent clinical and technological advances in cardiovascular imaging, with particular emphasis on approaches that have the potential to change clinical practice. We welcome original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and state-of-the-art reviews addressing innovative imaging techniques and their application across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease. Particular attention will be given to advanced tissue characterization, quantitative and multiparametric imaging, multimodality strategies, imaging-based risk prediction, artificial intelligence, and image-
Contributions addressing cardiomyopathies, cardiac arrhythmias, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, valvular and structural heart disease, inflammatory cardiac disorders, and emerging applications of molecular and hybrid imaging are particularly encouraged. The overarching goal is to highlight how contemporary imaging can improve disease characterization, personalize therapeutic strategies, guide interventions, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Advanced cardiac magnetic resonance, including tissue characterization, mapping, and late gadolinium enhancement
- Cardiac computed tomography, coronary imaging, perfusion, and structural heart disease applications
- Advanced echocardiography, strain imaging, 3D imaging, and quantitative assessment
- Nuclear cardiology, molecular imaging, PET, SPECT, and hybrid imaging
- Multimodality imaging in cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, and heart failure
- Imaging-based risk stratification and precision cardiovascular medicine • Artificial intelligence, machine learning, radiomics, and automated image analysis
- Imaging-guided electrophysiology and structural heart interventions

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
