Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, “Innovative Therapeutic Strategies for Retinal Diseases”, is published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal of clinical medicine that is published online semimonthly by MDPI. The aim of this Special Issue is to showcase advances that improve the clinical management of retinal disorders.
Despite remarkable progress, vision-threatening diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, retinal vein occlusion, and inherited retinal dystrophies remain major causes of irreversible visual loss worldwide. Key challenges include treatment resistance or suboptimal response, recurrence, long-term treatment burden, and limited options for advanced stages. This Special Issue welcomes original clinical research, clinically oriented experimental studies, and comprehensive reviews on novel pharmacological approaches, anti-VEGF and steroid strategies, neuroprotection, retinal laser and surgical innovations, as well as imaging and functional biomarkers and real-world evidence on treatment outcomes. By gathering multidisciplinary work that can be translated into daily practice, this Special Issue seeks to support evidence-based decision-making and to promote the development of effective, individualized therapies for preserving and restoring vision in patients with retinal diseases.
We invite researchers, including clinicians and scientists working in these fields, to contribute their original work to this Special Issue. We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.
