Cardiovascular Risk in COVID-19 Survivors: From Emergency Department Management to Cardiovascular Rehabilitation
This special issue belongs to the section "Cardiovascular Medicine".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic extends well beyond the acute infectious phase, with accumulating evidence demonstrating a significant burden of cardiovascular complications among survivors. Long-term COVID-19, also referred to as post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), is frequently associated with persistent symptoms such as chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, and reduced exercise capacity, often reflecting underlying cardiovascular dysfunction.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and clinically oriented perspective on the continuum of cardiovascular care in COVID-19 survivors. The emergency department represents a critical first point of contact, where early recognition, triage, and cardiovascular risk stratification are essential to guide immediate clinical decisions and follow-up pathways.
Beyond the acute phase, cardiovascular rehabilitation plays a central role in improving the functional status, reducing symptom burden, and improving quality of life in COVID-19 patients over the long term. A multidisciplinary and integrated approach—linking acute care with structured rehabilitation programs—is crucial for addressing the complex and evolving cardiovascular needs of these patients.
We invite submissions of articles or comprehensive reviews that address cardiovascular risk assessment, emergency department management, rehabilitation strategies, and integrated models of care in COVID-19 survivors. We are particularly interested in studies that explore innovative diagnostic tools, risk stratification methods, and multidisciplinary interventions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
