Background and history of this topic:
Neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of central vision loss worldwide. Intravitreal anti–vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy has transformed management over the past two decades; however, challenges remain, including treatment burden, incomplete response, and long-term disease control.
Aim and scope of the Special Issue:
This Special Issue highlights clinically and translationally relevant research focused on exudative retinal disorders, with an emphasis on neovascular AMD and related choroidal neovascular conditions.
Cutting-edge research:
Topics of interest include next-generation anti-VEGF agents, tyrosine kinase inhibitors, angiopoietin/Tie-2 pathway modulators, gene-based therapies, sustained-delivery and implantable platforms, complement pathway modulation, and strategies targeting inflammation or subretinal fibrosis. Additionally, studies exploring imaging-derived biomarkers, predictors of treatment response, and real-world visual outcomes are encouraged.
Types of papers solicited:
We welcome original clinical studies, randomized and observational analyses, prospective and retrospective cohorts, and registry- and claims-based investigations.
