Energy Performance of Photovoltaic Power Systems
This special issue belongs to the section "A2: Solar Energy and Photovoltaic Systems".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The global installed capacity of photovoltaics has rapidly increased due to the climate policies and reduced module cost. This installation of PV systems in all possible locations and sites has raised new issues and challenges in terms of energy performance of photovoltaic systems. Soiling is one such issue that needs to be investigated with a generalized approach rather than focusing on region-based challenges in different locations. Concrete measures for mitigating soiling loss with minimum impact in climate and economics is the need of the hour. Building integrated photovoltaics and agro-photovoltaics are considered as a co-habitat option for energy generation from PV systems for green building and to enrich agro economics. Furthermore, PV energy is playing a vital role in rural economics and livelihood. However, reliability and grid issues in rural areas need to be addressed. Moreover, along with energy security, the largescale installations and time-bound energy production from PV systems has led to the curtailment of PV energy with increased requirement of energy storage options. Other options can be through PV-based integrated renewable energy systems.
This Special Issue primarily focuses on research findings concerning solutions on PV performance and PV-system-based issues. Research outcomes on the policy for maximum utilization of PV energy through technical and societal interventions are also considered. Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Fault diagnostics in PV systems (PV modules and electrical components)
- PV performance and reliability (intermittency and variability)
- PV soiling loss mitigation measures
- Energy loss due to PV curtailment and congestion
- PV-based pumped hydro system
- Electrical storage for PV power
- PV energy and hydrogen production
- Hydrogen for PV energy storage
- Building integrated photovoltaics
- Concentrated photovoltaics
- PV electricity for sustainable building
- Optical and electrical modeling of PV system
- PV-based integrated renewable energy systems
- PV energy for sustainable livelihood
- PV economics and viability analysis
- Reliability of PV systems for grid integration
- PV energy and the feed-in-tariff of electricity
- Effect of component aging on PV energy

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
