Background and History of This Topic:
Pediatric obesity has emerged as one of the most pressing global public health challenges of the 21st century. Over the past several decades, its prevalence has increased dramatically, accompanied by a growing recognition of its complex biological, behavioral, environmental, and social determinants. Once viewed primarily as a risk factor for future adult diseases, pediatric obesity is now understood to be associated with immediate metabolic, cardiovascular, psychological, and developmental complications, thus necessitating earlier and more comprehensive clinical and public health responses.
Aim and Scope of the Special Issue:
This Special Issue, titled “Childhood Obesity: From Complication to Comprehensive Care,” aims to highlight multidisciplinary perspectives on prevention, early identification, clinical management, and long-term care strategies for children and adolescents affected by obesity. We seek to advance our understanding of both complications and integrated care models.
Cutting-Edge Research:
Emerging research emphasizes precision medicine approaches, the role of genetics and epigenetics, microbiome influences, digital health interventions, community-based prevention, and multidisciplinary treatment programs that integrate medical, behavioral, nutritional, and psychosocial care.
Types of Papers Solicited:
We invite original research articles, systematic reviews, clinical studies, implementation research, and policy analyses addressing the epidemiology, mechanisms, complications, prevention strategies, and precision and comprehensive management of childhood obesity.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Children is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
