Advances and Challenges in Pediatric Cardiac Imaging

Dear Colleagues,

Background & history: Pediatric cardiac imaging has evolved from basic echocardiography to multimodal approaches integrating advanced ultrasound, cardiac MRI, CT, and emerging AI-assisted analytics. These developments have improved diagnostic precision in congenital and acquired heart disease while reducing invasiveness and radiation exposure.

Aim & scope: This Special Issue aims to highlight recent technological innovations, clinical applications, and translational research that enhance diagnostic accuracy, risk stratification, and longitudinal monitoring in pediatric cardiology.

Cutting-edge research: Topics include 3D/4D echocardiography, fetal cardiac imaging, low-dose CT, rapid and motion-corrected MRI, quantitative strain analysis, computational modeling, and AI-driven image interpretation and workflow optimization.

Solicited papers: We invite original research, systematic reviews, technical notes, multicenter trials, and clinical perspectives addressing novel imaging techniques, validation studies, and real-world implementation challenges.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Children is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
