World Environment Day—“A Global Call for Climate Action”, 5 June 2026

World Environment Day was launched by the United Nations in 1972. On 5 June every year, governments and organizations in the United Nations undertake global activities addressing their concern for the preservation and enrichment of the environment, with a view to deepening environmental awareness. World Environment Day 2026 focuses on climate change—on the urgent signals the Earth is sending, and the signals we choose to send back. UNEP’s global campaign, #NowForClimate, asks everyone to step up and help to steer the direction of our world’s future.

At MDPI, we consider it our responsibility to answer the United Nations’ call and take part in World Environment Day 2026. Relevant articles on SDG 13 are available to read at the following link: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13: Climate Action

MDPI’s established journals in the field of Environmental & Earth Science provide an open platform for academic exchanges on climate change, energy conservation and emission reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable development. We encourage readers to engage with this global campaign and help to spread the word.

Invited Speakers:

Dr. Chiara Martino,
Department of Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies (STEBICEF), University of Palermo, Italy

Prof. Dr. Bruce Glavovic,
Resource and Environmental Planning Programme, Massey University, New Zealand
