Cover Story: This paper presents a novel approach of the behavior of the KNOWM memristor. The KNOWM memristor has been shown to act like a static nonlinear resistor under certain conditions. Consequently, the KNOWM memristor is used as a static nonlinear resistor in the chaotic Shinriki oscillator. The circuit’s dynamical behavior is examined by nonlinear methods, such as phase portraits, bifurcation and continuation diagrams, as well as maximal Lyapunov exponent diagrams. Interesting phenomena related to chaos theory, such as the entrance to chaos through the antimonotonicity phenomenon, the hysteresis phenomenon, and the existence of coexisting attractors with regards to the parameters of the system, are investigated. Moreover, the period-doubling route to chaos and crisis phenomena is observed, too. View this paper
