Vaccines, Volume 11, Issue 2

February 2023 - 295 articles

Cover Story: Genetic factors’ role in modulating the response to SARS-CoV-2 infection is currently being extensively studied. Nevertheless, the host genetic determinants of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine effectiveness appear largely unexplored. The epidemiology of infectious diseases have demonstrated that multiple host- and vaccine-specific factors modify the individual response. Studies on vaccine responses to many viral infections have highlighted the role of polymorphisms of key genes regulating the innate and adaptive immunity. Instead, studies on immunogenetics of anti SARS-CoV2 vaccination are still scarce. This Vaccines issue publishes research on the role that genetic variants of the cytokine network might play in regulating the immune-response induced by the mRNA-based anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. View this paper
