Cover Story: A modified mathematical model based on concentration distribution was applied to tumor growth in both static and dynamic platforms. Apoptosis and necrosis mechanisms were considered as the main inhibitory factors in the model, while tumor growth rate and nutrient consumption rate were modified in both quiescent and proliferative zones. Such modifications could better predict the experimental results of tumor growth. Finally, tumor growth kinetics in both U-shaped barriers and microwell structures were compared. View this paper
