Cover Story: The term Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) describes a group of medical devices enabling the collection and exchange of healthcare data. The combination of IoMT and healthcare can improve the quality of life and provide better care services. Unfortunately, today, it is still difficult for healthcare institutions to efficiently marry compliance of their systems with new medical solutions. A technology that promises to overcome the issue is Distributed Ledger Technology through its properties of decentralization, immutability, and transparency. The work from Bigini et al. aims at giving an overview of the state of the art of blockchain-based systems for the IoMT, specifically addressing the challenges of reaching user-centricity, and thus highlighting future potential directions.
