2009	The inaugural issue was released. Future Internet was published as a quarterly journal.
2012	Future Internet was Indexed in EI Compendex (Elsevier).
2015	Future Internet was Indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2017	Future Internet was Indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2018	Future Internet established the following sections: Internet of Things; Smart System infrastructures and Cybersecurity; Big Data and Augmented Intelligence; Techno-Social Smart Systems. Future Internet adopted a monthly publication schedule.
2019	Future Internet established the following sections: Internet of Things; Big Data and Augmented Intelligence; Techno-Social Smart Systems; Smart System Infrastructure and Applications; Network Virtualization and Edge/Fog Computing; Cybersecurity.
2023	Future Internet received its first Impact Factor (3.4). The CiteScore increased to 6.7, ranked Q1 (85/379) in "Computer Networks and Communications".
