Chronic Exposure Assessment of Agrochemicals and Health Outcomes
This special issue belongs to the section "Agrochemicals and Food Toxicology".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Agrochemicals are very important for pest control in crops. However, their current use raises concerns about their potential to cause harm to human and animal health. Many studies have shown that even under usual exposure conditions, agrochemicals can cause various toxic effects on the health of people exposed directly or indirectly. These effects can vary greatly depending on the type of substance or formulation used, concentration, and duration of exposure.
Contamination by agrochemicals not only occurs for those who handle these products (such as workers in the agrochemical industry or rural workers). Agrochemical residues have been found in water sources, soil, and food, which become pathways for non-occupational human and animal (fish, mollusks, mammals, and birds) contamination. Animal contamination can increase their risk of mortality and can cause reproductive alterations that can interfere with the reproduction of the species. In addition, they also serve as a source of human contamination if ingested. These connections between human, animal, and environmental health show us the importance of a One Health approach and translational research in exposure to agrochemicals.
This Special Issue focuses on the effects on human and animal health resulting from chronic exposure to agrochemicals. We are looking for research that shows previously undescribed organic, molecular, or biochemical changes in humans and/or animals due to exposure to agrochemicals and their possible pathogenic pathways.
We welcome original research, reviews (systematic or integrative), short communications based on natural or experimental exposure (“in vivo”), and case reports that show the effects or even the absence of effects from exposure to agrochemicals.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Toxics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
