Special Issues
Sustainability publishes Special Issues to create collections of papers on specific topics, with the aim of building a community of authors and readers to discuss the latest research and develop new ideas and research directions. Special Issues are led by Guest Editors, who are experts on the topic and all Special Issue submissions follow MDPI's standard editorial process. The journal’s Editor-in-Chief and/or designated Editorial Board Member will oversee Guest Editor appointments and Special Issue proposals, checking their content for relevance and ensuring the suitability of the material for the journal. The papers published in a Special Issue will be collected and displayed on a dedicated page of the journal’s website. Further information on MDPI's Special Issue policies and Guest Editor responsibilities can be found here. For any inquiries related to a Special Issue, please contact the Editorial Office.
Agricultural engineering is essential for addressing sustainability challenges such as resource inefficiency; climate resilience; agricultural waste; and food insecurity. This Special Issue on Sustainable Agricultural Engineering Technology and Development focuses on precision agriculture and smart agricultural systems through circular-economy and systems-based approaches. It welcomes research linking intelligent engineering technologies to measurable environmental and socio-economic outcomes; including resource efficiency; carbon reduction; waste valorization; and better livelihoods.
We invite original research and review papers that advance interdisciplinary innovation and real-world impact toward low-carbon; efficient; and sustainable modern agriculture. Critical perspectives on technological benefits; limitations; adoption barriers; and scalability are also encouraged.
Topics include: precision agriculture; IoT; and intelligent farming; machine vision and deep learning; green non-destructive testing and quality evaluation; agricultural waste valorization and biomass energy conversion; low-carbon agricultural machinery; and energy-efficient smart facility agriculture.
