Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and smart technologies is fundamentally transforming supply chain design and operations, particularly in the context of sustainability. As firms confront intensifying environmental, social, and economic pressures, there is a critical need to re-evaluate traditional supply chain structures through the lens of data-driven intelligence. This Special Issue serves as a dedicated platform for pioneering research that bridges the gap between smart technologies and sustainable supply chain management.

The scope of this Special Issue is organized around three primary dimensions. We first examine how AI, machine learning, and big data analytics can optimize strategic design decisions, such as network configuration and sourcing. Second, building on this strategic foundation, we aim to explore operational applications including sustainable production, logistics, and risk management. Finally, we seek to address the managerial and policy frameworks essential for governing and implementing these intelligent systems. By synthesizing methodological rigor and practical insights, this Special Issue aims to advance actionable and scalable solutions that will shape the future of sustainable supply chains.
