Sustainable Development in Shaping the Acoustic Climate of Smart Cities

Dear Colleagues,

Most cities are polluted by various noise sources. Research indicates that residents are exposed not only to exceeding noise limits but also to annoyance from various noise sources during the day and night. In many cases, young children are overstimulated by the numerous and intense acoustic signals in the urban environment. Therefore, it is advisable and justified to undertake research aimed at implementing solutions that reduce noise exposure.

The aim of this Special Issue of the journal is to present current trends, research results, technologies and innovative solutions in the sustainable management of the acoustic climate of cities. I am convinced that the modern and interesting solutions presented by the authors of the articles will contribute to improving the quality of life in the urban environment.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but not limited to) the following:

1. Sustainable Noise Management in Urban Environments
2. The Soundscape of Smart Cities
3. Acquisition of acoustic information by residents using mobile devices
4. Sustainable urban planning and design
5. Application of artificial intelligence methods in managing the city's acoustic climate
6. Transportation and mobility solutions for sustainable cities

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. I look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
