Advances in Power Systems and Sustainable Energy
This special issue belongs to the section "Energy Sustainability".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Power systems for sustainable energy systems play a key role in ensuring the efficient and resilient integration of sustainable energy sources. The design of power converters and their control are essential as they ensure stable and reliable integration to the grid and/or efficient storage processes.
Moreover, power systems control is becoming more sophisticated with the integration of intelligence and prediction which makes them more reliable and flexible for the integration of sustainable energy sources.
The scope of this Special Issue includes converter topology design, advanced control strategies, digital and intelligent control algorithms, and system-level integration of sustainable energy sources with smart grids, electric vehicles, and energy storage systems. In fact, sustainability of modern power grids increasingly relies on innovations in converter design, which improve efficiency and reduce energy losses. These advances are complemented by advanced control strategies and intelligent digital control algorithms that optimize performance, enable adaptive operation, and promote the integration of renewable energies, thus contributing to more resilient and environmentally friendly energy infrastructures.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Advanced topologies of power converters for sustainable energy systems.
- Control strategies for grid-connected energy converters.
- Semiconductor devices for high-efficiency, sustainable power conversion.
- Bidirectional converters for sustainable energy storage and systems integration.
- AI-based and data-driven control techniques for power systems.
- Reliability-driven design and fault-tolerant control of power converters to support sustainable systems.
- Power converters applications in microgrids and hybrid renewable energy systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
