Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the domain of industrial production and national key projects, major equipment serves as the core driving force. Whether it is large-scale power generation equipment, precision aerospace machinery, heavy-duty industrial robots, or complex marine engineering equipment, their stable operation and structural integrity are crucial to ensuring production safety, improving production efficiency, and promoting technological progress. Once a structural failure occurs in major equipment, it may lead to huge economic losses, even casualties, and affect the smooth progress of related industries. Smart sensor technology, with its high sensitivity, real-time performance, and intelligent analysis capabilities, has become an essential means for structural health monitoring of major equipment. It enables us to grasp the structural state of equipment in a timely manner, predict potential risks, and provide a strong guarantee for the safe and reliable operation of major equipment.

This Special Issue seeks to further promote the innovation and application of smart sensor technology in the structural health monitoring of major equipment and strengthen the exchange and cooperation between experts, scholars, engineers, and technical personnel in related fields. It aims to build a high-level academic platform to display the latest research results, explore cutting-edge technical directions, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. We invite authors to submit high-quality manuscripts reporting on advances in smart sensor technology for structural health monitoring of major equipment. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Smart sensor systems for real - time monitoring of key components of major equipment;
  • High - temperature and high - pressure resistant smart sensors for structural health monitoring of industrial equipment;
  • Vibration and noise monitoring based on smart sensors in rotating machinery of major equipment;
  • Wireless sensor networks for distributed monitoring of large - scale complex equipment structures;
  • AI - driven data analysis and fault diagnosis algorithms for smart sensor data in major equipment;
  • Smart sensors for fatigue crack detection and life evaluation of major equipment structures;
  • Energy - efficient and low - power consumption smart sensor solutions for long - term monitoring of major equipment;
  • Multi - sensor fusion technology in structural health monitoring of major equipment;
  • Reliability verification and calibration methods for smart sensors in major equipment monitoring.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
