Plant Systems and Synthetic Biology

The Plant Systems and Synthetic Biology section of the journal Plants is devoted to publishing papers on all levels of plant systems and synthetic biology, which include, but are not limited to, the internal processes and external cues that control plant phenotypic traits, such as plant growth and development, as well as responses to the environment. This section also welcomes papers on using synthetic biology, such as computational biology and genome editing, to study gene functions and engineer new plant phenotypic traits.

This section publishes both review and original research papers as well as application notes, computational tools, and resources and methods.

In particular (but not exclusively), this section welcomes high-level manuscripts on the following topics:

• Biofuel plants
• Cell–cell interaction
• Computational biology and bioinformatics
• CRISPR/Cas
• Engineered plant and transgenics
• Gene network
• Genome editing
• High throughput sequencing, particularly on single-cell and chromosome sequencing
• Machine learning in plant study
• Medical plants
• Omics (transcriptomics, epigenomics, degradomics, proteomics, and metabolomics)
• Plant and environment interaction
• Plant cell communication
• Plant secondary metabolites
• Synthetic Biology
• TALENs
• ZFNs
