Travel Award

Dear colleagues,

Our journal is pleased to announce the winners of the Pharmaceuticals 2020–2021 Travel Awards. The evaluation committee was very impressed with the high quality of work presented, and after careful consideration, the Travel Awards have been granted to two winners: Raquel Filipa da Costa Viveiros (a postdoctoral researcher at NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal) and Patrick Jim Küppers (apostdoctoralresearcherat University Hospital Bonn, Germany).

Dr. Raquel Filipa da Costa Viveiros is currently developing BioMIPs—molecularly imprinted polymers using green technologies, in particular using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2)—with a high affinity for biomolecules for potential use in biopurification processes. At this time, he is developing a green bioinspired carrier for anticancer therapy, taking advantage of the molecular imprinting technique and the use of green technology, i.e., supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2), which has been revealed as a very promising material. Dr. Raquel Filipa da Costa Viveiros would like to have poster or oral communication at the 13th International Meeting on Supercritical Fluids, May 2022 in Montreal, Canada to share his last research. The award consists of 1000 Swiss Francs to attend this conference.

Dr. Patrick Jim Küppers studied pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry under the supervision of Professor Michael Gütschow and, for PhD project, dealt with the design, synthesis, and characterization of heterocyclized dipeptide derivatives as inhibitors for heterotrimeric G proteins. Dr. Patrick Jim Küppers is planning to present his PhD work at the 13th AFMC International Medicinal Chemistry Symposium (AIMECS) starting on the 29th of November, 2021 in Tokyo, Japan. The award consists of 1000 Swiss Francs to attend this conference.

We would like to thank all of the applicants for submitting their diverse and fascinating range of research topics. We also would like to thank the members of the evaluation committee for their comprehensive evaluation of the candidates. I congratulate the winners for their accomplishments.

Sincerely,
Dr. Jean Jacques Vanden Eynde
