Topical Collection Information

This topical collection focuses on the mechanisms, assessment, and treatment of pain. In terms of mechanism research, it explores how pain signals are transmitted from the site of injury through the nervous system to the brain, involving complex interactions between neurons and various neurotransmitters. It also covers the influence of psychological factors such as emotions and cognition on pain perception. In the field of pain assessment, various methods and tools are employed to accurately measure the intensity, nature, and impact range of pain. Effective treatment strategies are developed for different types of pain, such as acute pain, chronic pain, and cancer pain, including pharmacological therapy, physical therapy, and neuromodulation techniques. Meanwhile, the translational application of pain research is emphasized, with efforts to transform basic research findings into clinical practice to improve pain treatment outcomes and enhance patients' quality of life.
