Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Personalized medicine represents a cornerstone in efforts to optimize tissue oxygenation and to reduce morbidity and mortality in both perioperative and critical care settings. Since the 1980s, with the introduction of cardiac output monitoring, the concept of personalized medicine has progressively expanded in these fields, driven by advances in preoperative risk stratification, intraoperative hemodynamic optimization, mechanical ventilation strategies, and monitoring and pharmacological management. Beyond the acute phase, personalized approaches in anesthesia and critical care must also encompass post-acute trajectories, with particular attention to long-term outcomes and quality of life. Key domains of interest include pain management, cognitive function, renal outcomes, and hematologic recovery.
This Special Issue seeks high-quality contributions, including original research, meta-analyses, and narrative reviews that advance the field of personalized medicine in anesthesia and critical care.
