Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue of Informatics is dedicated to unpacking how the principles of Ubuntu—a philosophy rooted in African wisdom emphasizing community, connection, and mutual caring for all—can guide the development and application of AI. The aim of this Special Issues to elicit contributions that bridge the gap between cutting-edge technological advancements and the age-old wisdom of Ubuntu, focusing on creating AI solutions that are inclusive, equitable, and beneficial for everyone, especially in vital areas such as health, education, and economics.
We welcome submissions across a wide range of topics related to the following:
- AI and Ubuntu approaches to transformative health;
- AI and its impact on society;
- Educational equity;
- AI and economic empowerment;
- AI culture and diversity in health, education, and economics;
- Sustainable AI solutions in health, education, and economics;
- AI and human collaboration in health, education, and economics;
- AI and policy, leadership and governance within health, education, and economics;
- AI and ethics in Healthcare;
- Other related topics.
This Special Issue builds on the Ubuntu Africentric Conference 2024 that was held on 26–28 September 2024 at Skukuza Lodge Kruger National Park in South Africa on the following theme: AI for the people: an Ubuntu approach to transforming health, education, and economic landscapes. The conference included delegates from different higher-learning institutions, and the conference link is https://ubuntuafricentric.co.za/.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Informatics is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
