On Thursday, 25 May 2023, MDPI and the journal Cancers (ISSN: 2072-6694) organized a webinar on cancers—The Molecular Predictive and Prognostic Biomarkers in Breast Cancer. The aim of the webinar was to provide an overview of these biomarker tests in breast cancer, describe their indications and utilization, and list some of their challenges. It will serve as a practical reference for oncologists in their integral role in patient care.

Several biomarkers with the intent of being predictive and/or prognostic are currently widely employed in breast cancers, ranging from the routine pathology test of ER, PgR, Ki67 and HER2 to new molecular tools as genomic tests, the status of BRCA 1 and 2, Pi3KCa, or PD-L1, etc. The interception of cancer-related biomarkers would support the optimization of cancer treatment and contribute to therapy decisions for any single patient, with a higher probability of responding or not to a specific treatment.
