Advanced Research in Oral Diseases
This special issue belongs to the section "Molecular and Translational Medicine".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The management of patients suffering from oral diseases will increasingly be projected towards the clinical integration of artificial intelligence (AI), biomaterials, digital dentistry, and advanced imaging technologies, which hold the promise of significantly improving early diagnosis and treatment planning. AI systems show interesting potential to accurately analyze clinical photographs and radiographs in order to detect and monitor dental caries, periodontal disease, and oral mucosal lesions, while innovative diagnostic tests based on saliva or capillary blood could promote a faster, more precise, and less invasive diagnosis, supporting a shift toward preventive and predictive care. Further major advancements are related to the use of nanotechnology, biomaterials, and molecular research in dentistry. Biomaterial-based approaches could improve the mechanical strength and antibacterial properties of dental restorations as well as the regenerative strategies for bone, periodontal tissues, and dental pulp. In addition, genetic and biomarker research helps identify individuals at higher risk of oral diseases, paving the way for personalized or precision dentistry. Together, these innovations are transforming oral healthcare into a more effective, individualized, and minimally invasive field.
This Special Issue welcomes clinical and preclinical studies, particularly those focusing on AI-, molecular-, and biomaterial-based strategies for the diagnosis and management of diseases.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
