Biomedicines 2024 Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Biomedicines will be granting the Travel Award to two junior scientists. The applications will be assessed by an Evaluation Committee consisting of senior scholars from the Biomedicines Editorial Board.
This award provides financial support for the winners to attend an international conference in the field of biomedicines to be held in 2024, in order to hold a presentation, present a poster, or both.
Candidate Requirements:
– Postdoctoral fellows or PhD students.
– Plans to attend an international conference in 2024 (oral presentation or poster).
Required Application Documents:
– Information of the conference the applicant is planning to attend and the abstract that will be submitted.
– Curriculum Vitae and list of publications.
– Justification letter describing the focus of the research (max. 800 words).
– Letter of recommendation from the supervisor, research director, or department head, which also confirms the applicant’s status as a postdoctoral fellow/PhD student.
The winners will each be awarded CHF 800 and a certificate.
Please submit your applications for the Biomedicines 2024 Travel Award online by 31 October 2023. Prizes will be awarded at the end of December 2023 and announced on the Biomedicines website.

Biomedicines 2022 Best Paper Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the “Biomedicines 2022 Best Paper Award” for research and review articles published in Biomedicines from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022. Two reviews and two research articles will receive an award each. The papers will be selected after a thorough evaluation by the journal Award Committee led by the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Shaker A. Mousa.
Eligibility for the Award:
– Papers published in Biomedicines from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022;
– Open to all career levels;
– Both regular and Special Issue submissions will be considered (except papers published in Anniversary Special Issues).
Selection Criteria:
The papers will be selected by the journal Award Committee according to the following criteria:
– Scientific merit and broad impact;
– Originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented;
– Creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts;
– Clarity of presentation;
– Citations and downloads.
The Prize:
– Two review awards: CHF 500 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Biomedicines in 2024 after peer review;
– Two research article awards: CHF 500 and a chance to publish a paper free of charge in Biomedicines in 2024 after peer review;
– Each winner will also receive a certificate.
The winners will be announced on the journal website in March 2024.

Biomedicines 2023 Outstanding Reviewer Award
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Shaker A. Mousa, we wish to acknowledge our reviewers, who generously offer their time to review the papers submitted to Biomedicines, by presenting an award to the reviewers who have demonstrated their dedication, professionalism, and timeliness in reviewing manuscripts for Biomedicines.
What are the pre-requisites to be eligible for this award?

There will be four winners this year, and each will receive the following:
– CHF 500;
– Offer to publish one paper with a 50% discount on the article processing charge in Biomedicines after peer review before the end of 2024;
– A certificate.

– The winners will be announced in February 2024 on the journal website.

Biomedicines 2023 Young Investigator Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that Biomedicines is now inviting nominations for the Biomedicines 2023 Young Investigator Award. This prize will be given to two young investigators in recognition of their excellence in the field of biomedicines. All nominations will be assessed by an Award Evaluation Committee led by the Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Dr. Shaker A. Mousa.
The Prize
– CHF 1000;
– Option to publish one paper free of charge in Biomedicines after peer review before the end of June 2024;
– An electronic certificate.
Eligibility and Requirements
– Must have received their PhD no more than 10 years prior to 31 October 2023;
– Must have produced ground-breaking research and made a significant contribution to the advancement of biomedicines;
– Candidates must be nominated by senior scientists.

– Detailed curriculum vitae, including an updated publication list and a list of the researcher’s own research grants;
– Scanned copy of doctorate certificate;
– Signed nomination letters from two established senior scientists.

Biomedicines 2022 Best Paper Award for Anniversary Special Issues
In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Biomedicines, the editorial office has released “Anniversary Special Issues”. We welcome authors from all over the world to publish their papers in these Special Issues.
In recognition of our authors’ support, we are pleased to launch the “Biomedicines 2022 Best Paper Award for Anniversary Special Issues”. The papers will be selected after thorough evaluation by an Award Committee officially which is composed by Editorial Board Members of Biomedicines, officially chaired by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Shaker A. Mousa.
Eligibility for the Award:
– Open to all career levels;
– ONLY papers published in these Special Issues will be considered. Papers submitted after 30 November 2022 will not be eligible for this award.
Selection Criteria:
The paper will be selected by the journal’s Award Committee according to the following criteria (data source: Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics)):
– Scientific merit and broad impact;
– Originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented (for research article);
– Creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts (for research article);

Biomedicines 2022 Early-Career Women Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Biomedicines 2022 Early-Career Women Award is Dr. Roberta Giuffrida.
Dr. Roberta Giuffrida is a dermatologist and researcher at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Messina (Italy). Dr. Roberta Giuffrida’s research interests are in new and existing non-invasive tools useful for the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, and her main focus is on dermoscopy. Dr. Roberta Giuffrida received her PhD in 2020 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising 94 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, and her Hirsch index is 15. She is clearly a rising star in the field of biomedicines. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Roberta Giuffrida for her outstanding achievements.
As the awardee, Dr. Roberta Giuffrida will receive an honorarium of CHF 1000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge in Biomedicines in 2023 after peerreview, and a certificate.

Biomedicines 2022 Young Investigator Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that the winners of the Biomedicines 2022 Young Investigator Award are Dr. Yuyan Jiang and Professor Billy Wai-Lung Ng.
Dr. Yuyan Jiang is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University, USA. Dr. Jiang is a highly productive young researcher with special interests in developing next-generation radio-sensitizer, bio-responsive cancer nanomedicine and photoactive ultrasensitive molecular probes for deep-tissue diagnosis. Since the beginning of her scientific career in 2016, she has published 39 peer-review articles in high-ranking journals including Nature Biomedical Engineering, Nature Communications, Chemical Reviews, Accounts of Chemical Research, etc. According to Google Scholar, her research has received > 5,500 citations and her h-index is 36.
Professor Billy Wai-Lung Ng leads the Ng Lab of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery at the School of Pharmacy, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). His research interests are chemical biology, drug discovery, and medicinal chemistry. Professor Ng completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Prior to Harvard, he was a research fellow at University of Oxford, with funding support from the Croucher Foundation and Marie Curie Fellowship. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) during his graduate study. He obtained his Ph.D. and B.Sc. (1st Class Hons.) in Chemistry from CUHK. He has co-authored more than 20 papers in prestigious journals such as Science, Nature Chemical Biology, Molecular Cell, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., and ACS Central Science and also serves as a reviewer for more than 20 journals. Professor Ng was honored as a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum in 2022.
As the awardees, Dr. Yuyan Jiang and Professor Billy Wai-Lung Ng will each receive an honorarium of CHF 1000 and an electronic certificate.

We are pleased to announce that the winners of the Biomedicines 2021 Young Investigator Awards are Dr. Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan and Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk.
Dr. Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Microbiology (Queen Mary Hospital, Pokfulam, Hong Kong). Dr. Chan is a highly prolific young researcher with special interests in using state-of-the-art technologies in molecular medicine to investigate pathogen–host interactions and to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and control of emerging infectious diseases. With an h-index of 58 (Scopus) and 240 publications in reputable international peer-reviewed SCI-indexed journals, Dr. Chan is one of the most promising next-generation scientific leaders in the fields of biomedicines and emerging infectious diseases. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan for his outstanding achievements.
Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk is an Assistant Professor of Department of Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Ergonomics (Medical University of Bialystok, MUB, Poland). Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk’s scientific output includes as many as 90 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (58 original articles, 21 review papers, and 11 monographs) with a total impact factor of 242.977. According to the Web of Science and Scopus databases, his h-index is 15. Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk is also the author of 132 scientific meeting communiques and co-author of a patent application. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk for his outstanding achievements.
As the awardees, Dr. Jasper Fuk-Woo Chan and Dr. Mateusz Maciejczyk will receive an honorarium of 1000 CHF and an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 31 December 2021 in Biomedicines after peer-review.
