Advances in Evaluation of Nutritional Value in Feed Ingredients for Poultry

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid expansion of global poultry production has intensified feed ingredient demand, while the conventional corn–soybean model falls short of precision feeding requirements, spurring exploration of alternative cereals, agro-industrial by-products, and unconventional protein sources. Efficient utilization hinges on accurate determination of metabolizable energy, net energy, and standardized ileal amino acid digestibility, alongside reliable prediction models based on chemical composition or near-infrared spectroscopy for rapid, cost-effective evaluation.

This Special Issue aims to collect cutting-edge research on the evaluation of nutritional value in feed ingredients for broilers, layers, ducks, and other domesticated birds. The scope aligns with Animals' focus on animal physiology, nutrition, and sustainable production. We welcome original Articles, Reviews, and methodological advances covering energy evaluation systems, digestibility assays, prediction equations, novel ingredient characterization, in vitro/NIR techniques, and the interplay between feed quality, gut health, and product quality.

By showcasing these innovations, this Special Issue seeks to refine feed evaluation systems and promote broader adoption of precision nutrition in the poultry industry. We look forward to your contributions.
