Cover Story: This study presents a 53-year-old woman with Raghib syndrome (a rare congenital defect in which a persistent left superior vena cava drains into the left atrium, alongside an absent coronary sinus roof and an atrial septal defect, exposing patients to stroke risk), whose preoperative evaluation integrated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with augmented reality (AR). Starting from CT-derived 3D models, CFD simulations quantified the left-to-right shunt before and after repair. Data were used to develop an AR application using HoloLens 2, allowing surgeons to manipulate holographic cardiac models and measure vessel lengths, distances, and defect geometry to guide the surgical strategy. Findings demonstrate that this integrated CFD-AR approach could be a powerful clinical tool for the preoperative evaluation of complex congenital anatomy. View this paper
