Bioengineering and Biomaterials
A section of Prosthesis (ISSN 2673-1592).
Section Information
The Bioengineering and Biomaterials section focuses on the engineering principles and material science underlying prosthetic innovation. We invite research on the design, characterization, and performance of materials used in prosthetic devices, in addition to advanced manufacturing techniques or novel methods for prosthetic control. This section emphasizes the translation of fundamental discoveries into improved clinical solutions across all types of prostheses.
Topics of interest include the following:
- Prosthetic materials (metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites);
- Surface modifications and bioactive coatings;
- Virtual prototyping;
- Prosthetic design engineering;
- Prosthetic control paradigms;
- Customized prostheses (3D printing and CAD/CAM);
- Mechanical testing and durability assessment;
- Computational modeling and finite element analysis;
- Tissue–implant interactions;
- Medical device regulation and standardization.
